No Filter Climate is an educational and participatory project aimed at tackling climate misinformation and fostering critical thinking through the use of scientific data, intergenerational dialogue and local action.
The initiative brings together teenagers and older adults to explore how misinformation about climate change spreads, learn how to identify it, and develop collective responses grounded in evidence, lived experience and community engagement.
The project is being implemented in five municipalities in Andalusia —Almodóvar del Río and Carcabuey (Córdoba), Casares and Campillos (Málaga), and Granada’s Northern District— in collaboration with local councils, schools, active participation centres and senior centres, as well as experts in environmental issues and climate change. In total, 125 schoolchildren aged between 10 and 14 and 50 older adults are directly involved.
Students take part in five dynamic and participatory sessions featuring fact-checking games, headline analysis and a mini climate laboratory, where they collect and compare real data from their local environment with official datasets.
Older adults join the students in intergenerational sessions where they share their memories of local climate patterns and acquire basic digital skills to identify fake news, creating opportunities for mutual learning across generations.
No Filter Climate integrates a gender perspective throughout the project by highlighting the role of women scientists and climate activists and ensuring balanced participation among girls and boys. The project promotes an educational approach based on evidence, critical thinking, climate justice and shared environmental responsibility.
In each municipality, the process culminates in a public intergenerational event where young people and older adults present their conclusions and proposals to local authorities. As part of these events, participating municipalities symbolically endorse the commitment “Andalusian Municipalities Free from Climate Misinformation”, reinforcing their role in tackling environmental misinformation at local level and with the active involvement of the community.
The project will conclude in August 2026 with the publication of the No Filter Climate Practical Guide, a freely accessible digital resource bringing together key guidance for identifying climate misinformation, real-world examples and links to reliable scientific sources. Its aim is to make the methodology easier to use and replicate in other municipalities and educational settings.
