Practical Methodological Guide “No Filter Climate”
Climate change is not only an environmental challenge; it also poses a challenge to our ability to access reliable information, distinguish evidence from misleading claims, and actively participate in decisions that affect our communities.
Against this backdrop, the No Filter Climate Practical Methodological Guide was developed as one of the main outputs of the project of the same name. The guide systematises the experience carried out with children, adolescents and older adults in Almodóvar del Río, Carcabuey, Campillos, Casares (Secadero) and Granada’s Northern District, and brings together the tools, activities and lessons learned throughout the process.
The initiative combines environmental education, media literacy, critical thinking, citizen participation and evidence-based learning. Through a participatory and engaging methodology, students learn to identify the main traps of climate misinformation, apply prebunking and fact-checking strategies, analyse real climate data from their local area, and turn what they have learned into proposals for local action.
The guide presents the full methodological pathway: from the initial assessment and work on climate misinformation, through the analysis of environmental data and the design of proposals, to intergenerational meetings and dialogue with local councils. In this way, learning moves beyond the classroom and becomes participation, intergenerational dialogue and community engagement.
In addition to explaining the methodology, the publication includes teaching resources, assessment tools, data analysis worksheets, scientific references, and climate and environmental databases, as well as the results and lessons learned during implementation.
The guide is primarily aimed at teachers, environmental educators, non-formal education professionals, local authority technical staff, social and environmental organisations, and facilitators of participatory processes, although its activities can be adapted to different age groups and contexts.
One of the main objectives of this publication is to facilitate the transferability and replication of the experience. It is therefore designed as a practical resource that other public administrations, schools and organisations can adapt to the specific characteristics of their own territories, updating climate data and tailoring the activities to each local context.
